The Beginnings

Jonny Carroll's interest in visual media started as a young boy with a desire to capture him and his friends, the same friends who coined the name "donut", performing bike stunts. Before long he fell in love with video editing and joined the Communication Major Studies program at his high school. There, he was instructed and inspired by his teacher Mr. Katz and in 2005 was named Plano East's student of the year in communication.

While in high school Jonny landed a job at Best Buy where he worked for two years in the camera department. At that time, he bought his first digital SLR and one month later after entering the Richardson photo contest, won Best of Show along with 4 other first places. Jonny was given a gallery showing hosted by the City of Richardson, TX.

His exposure and quality of photography from the show encouraged individuals and local businesses to contact him for photography. This marked the beginning of a profession that has been growing since.

"I never intended to do this [photography] professionally, it just kind of found me. Now I'm making a living doing what I love. I couldn't ask for a better job." -Jonny Carroll.

Expanding the Profession

Jonny currently attends the University of North Texas where he is earning a degree in Arts and Sciences with a concentration in communication design, geography and computer education. His first year of college, Jonny launched his company Jdonut Photography, LLC, a business which brought him a number of different jobs.

After a summer working at a wedding center near Dallas, TX, Jonny launched his own wedding photography business. Denton Wedding Photography. Weddings have become his main business concentration.

"Emotions are what makes photography so powerful, I enjoy weddings, because their filled with joyful emotions, and it's a good feeling to capture that."
